Karen has been around the Art, Crafts and Beauty world throughout her professional life. For years she helped friends and family redecorate their homes, so it was a natural move to do it professionally. Studying under Lauri Ward™, a well known New York Interior Designer, author and founder of the Interior Refiner’s Network®, Karen was awarded her certification as a professional Interior Refiner®, and currently holds a Gold Member status in the Network. As part of her membership in the Refiner’s Network, Karen also completes an average of 80 hours of ongoing study each year, and has access to other Interior Refiner’s so she can tap into their expertise – she calls it the IRN University.

Specializing in one-day redecorating, Karen uses the furniture and accessories already in your home to develop a new look. She incorporates these elements into a Design Plan tailored to your needs. This approach saves you time and money because you’re not purchasing new furniture or hiring out for costly interior design services or dealing with interior decorators with an agenda. Karen’s belief is that your environment and personal look must reflect your tastes and personality.

Interior Refiner® Training

As an Interior Refiner®, Karen pursues intensive, ongoing training and education – both within the Interior Refiner’s Network® and independently. As mentioned above, her initial training was provided by Lauri Ward™, founder of the Interior Refiner’s Network®.

Every Interior Refiner® is required to complete the Use What You Have® At Home Decorator Training Program. The program trains Refiner’s on how to conduct consultations, adapt decorating ideas to any budget and how to give clients the information that they need. To be recognized as an IRN Certified Member®, the course must be completed along with a battery of tests.

Each year, Karen attends the Interior Refiner’s Network® Conference – a 3 day track packed with workshops taught by the top people in their field. Workshops include ongoing training and current theory on carpet and carpet selection, tile and stone, paint and color theory, Feng Shui and photography. To retain her Interior Refiner’s Network® Gold Member Status, Karen is also required to complete additional, independent training, successfully completing courses in Interior Design, Feng Shui, Lighting and Creating Perfect Paint Palettes.
